Water and wastewater systems are critical national infrastructure with direct impact on public health, industrial operations, and community stability. SGBC’s Water & Wastewater sector supports structured cooperation between Syrian and German stakeholders to rehabilitate, modernize, and improve the performance of water supply and sanitation assets.
The near-term priority is practical rehabilitation: restoring pumping capacity, replacing key electromechanical equipment, improving system reliability, and reducing losses. Particular emphasis is placed on interventions that deliver fast, measurable outcomes—such as non-revenue water reduction, leak detection, metering, pressure management, and modular upgrades for treatment processes.
SGBC supports members through structured sector intelligence, opportunity tracking, and stakeholder mapping to clarify who approves, who finances, and who operates. We facilitate targeted introductions and help companies plan efficient engagement: first visits, meeting programs, and follow-ups that convert technical interest into defined project pathways.
Typical engagement areas include pumping station rehabilitation, motors and drives, MCC/VFD integration, instrumentation and controls, modular treatment upgrades, and operational performance improvement. Digital and automation enablers are integrated where appropriate to increase reliability and improve monitoring and maintenance.
Through roundtables and technical working sessions, SGBC enables the transition from “needs discussion” to “project readiness”—including clear scopes, realistic phasing, and procurement preparation. This makes the sector particularly suitable for German suppliers and engineering firms that offer robust, standards-driven solutions and long-term service capabilities.
